The Woodstock Community (Loan) Closet is a volunteer organization consisting of a small group of people.
We are a separate organization and not part of the rescue squad.
Any Woodstock resident needing temporary use of durable medical items should contact one of the

volunteers to set up an appointment.
Volunteers manage the Loan Closet in addition to their other responsibilities.

If you call and receive a recording, please leave your name and phone number.

Woodstock NY Loan Closet

The Loan Closet isn’t open all the time.  You can visit it by making a daytime appointment with one of the volunteers.

If you don’t live in the Woodstock area, we suggest that you call the Resource Center for Accessible Living (RCAL) in Kingston at 845-331-0541. They also offer medical equipment, and at a nominal fee.

The Closet itself isn’t large enough to store hospital beds, unfortunately. But if you have one to donate, or if you need one, get in touch with us.  We keep the information on file in case the timing is right and we can match a donor to a recipient. We’ll do our best.

What keeps the Loan Closet running?  Donations!

We are here to support our community by providing medical equipment on a temporary basis. Items available to borrow include wheelchairs, walkers, canes, commodes, crutches, and other mobility aids.

There is no charge to borrow equipment.

A refundable $30 deposit is required for wheelchairs and knee scooters. The deposit will be returned when the equipment is returned, or, if preferred, it can be donated to help us purchase new equipment.

The Community Loan Closet is operated by dedicated volunteers and proudly serves the residents of Woodstock. When we have equipment available beyond our storage capacity, we are pleased to  lend items, excluding wheelchairs and knee scooters, to people outside the community.

Got something to donate?

We appreciate your generosity!

All of us on the Closet call list are unpaid volunteers, happily donating our time to help our neighbors.

Donations of money from people like you (tax deductible!) go towards purchasing replacement parts for what we’ve got, and new equipment as needed.

Donations of goods are very much appreciated but do refer to the lists of items – want as well as the items we can’t accept, before bringing anything over.

The Loan Closet was started in the 1940s by the Ulster County Public Health Nursing Committee.  We are constantly reminded, by the relief and appreciation expressed by those we are honored to assist, that it’s a highly valued service, and one that we are committed to continuing.

We’re here when you need us.
