The Woodstock Loan Closet was founded in 1942.  It was originally housed in the building behind the Grand Union on Mill Hill Road.  When it moved into the Rescue Squad building on 212, which was funded by Dr. Ludwig Neugarten, provisions were made to include the Loan Closet on the same property.  The closet was moved to several different spaces within the Rescue Squad building, finally landing in the free-standing barn on the opposite side of the mutually utilized parking lot, where it remains today.
